DPP :: Dec. 1 :: {{ know }}

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

As I read these verses, with the challenge before me to put myself into the story ~ to see these 'characters' as real people, the lyrics of Mark Lowry's "Mary did you know" were running through my heart:

Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered, will soon deliver you.
Did she have any idea?  Were the 80 miles while 8.75 months expectant traversed with the sentiment that the babe within her was The Light of the World?  Would it have made any difference when she found she was going to give birth in a stable?
I would have been scared, sad, nervous... nothing you want to be when about to become a mother.
I would want to trust.  Trust Father God, trust Joseph; trust.  & rest.
It would only be by His grace if I did.  Grace amazing.
